About

Syracuse University has quickly emerged as a national leader in collegiate esports, earning Emerging Program of the Year honors from the National Association of Collegiate Esports, EsportsU Program of the Year from the Collegiate Sports Management Group, and the 2026 Esports Trade Association Industry Award for Esports Scholastic Impact. Syracuse also captured a national championship in Counter-Strike 2 during its first varsity season and currently fields four varsity teams competing in the Power Esports Conference. At the academic core is Syracuse’s first-of-its-kind Esports Communications and Management degree, offered jointly through the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and the David B. Falk College of Sport. Students can specialize in Esports Business and Management, Esports Communications, or Esports Media and Design while gaining hands-on experience in competition, event operations, content creation, and live broadcast production. Syracuse’s esports program is supported by several dedicated facilities across campus, highlighted by the 20,000 square foot Esports Program Headquarters in the Marley Education Center. Opened in 2026, the facility features a dedicated esports competition auditorium, professional broadcast studios, a professional scale production control room, shout casting spaces, team rooms, classrooms, and spectator viewing areas. The facility gives students access to what Syracuse University describes as the most advanced esports production infrastructure on any college campus and serves as the primary academic and production hub for the program. The University also operates the 5,800 square foot Gaming and Esports Center in the Schine Student Center, featuring a 10 PC competition stage, large format video displays, live-streaming camera systems, gaming PCs and consoles, and additional broadcast production capabilities, along with its original esports gaming facility in the Barnes Center at The Arch.
